Gilroy Gardens is running a Halloween program the whole month of October called Scary Boo. We decided it looked like fun and drove over to check it out yesterday.
At the entrance we were greeted by the Gilroy Gardens mascot, "Gil." He is a bulb of garlic in case you couldn't tell!
At the entrance of the park, Delaney was given a trick or treat bag and a paper containing a scavenger hunt. The park is decorated all spooky and scary for Halloween and Delaney got to participate in a scavenger hunt by going around the park and looking for certain scary decorations and drawing a picture of them. Delaney was also able to go trick or treating in some of the stores. Delaney had a great time going around the park trick or treating and completing the scavenger hunt. And when she was all through with the scavenger hunt, she was given a neat little Halloween goody bag with a rubber bat, a toy puzzle, a ring, a coloring book and some other fun Halloween goodies.
And for some reason, I am a dork and didn't take any pictures of Gilroy Garden's fun decorations or Delaney completing her scavenger hunt!
In addition to the scavenger hunt, Delaney also got to do a few new fun things in the park. One of the neat activities at Gilroy Gardens is riding in paddle boats that are shaped like ducks or swans. Every time we have been to Gilroy Gardens in the past the line for the paddle boats is 2-3 hours long, so Delaney has never got to ride in one before. This time we got to the park right when it opened and Chris and Delaney raced to the paddle boats so they could be first in line.
Delaney chose to ride in a swan and they paddled around the lake for a bit while Kylie and I watched.
Delaney also likes a boat ride at Gilroy Gardens where you float leisurely down a river.
This ride allows babies as long as they can sit up well and can sit by themselves. We decided to try taking Kylie on it for the first time and she LOVED it!
She was so proud of herself sitting all by herself on the ride. She kept smiling and clapping the whole time.
And this might be my new favorite picture of Kylie. It makes me laugh! She was just so ecstatic to be sitting all by herself like a big girl on the ride.
And as part of the Scary Boo festivities, Gilroy Gardens had a Scary Petting Zoo and Pony Ride that you could pay an additional fee to use. Of course, Delaney had to visit the zoo and ride a pony.
The had all sort of animals in the petting zoo and the poor goats had costumes on. I felt bad for them. They looked silly.
This goat kept getting up on his hind legs and following Delaney around hoping she would feed him.
We also visited with chickens, ducks, bunnies, a pig, lots of reptiles and peacocks in the petting zoo but for some reason I only have pictures of Delaney with the goats!
And after the petting zoo we moseyed on over to the pony ride.
We got suited up cowgirl style and then went for a ride.
This is Delaney's new friend "Donda." Delaney loved her!
We had a great time at Scary Boo at Gilroy Gardens and are already looking forward to going back for their Christmas festivities in December!

Looks like you had a great time! What a fun place to visit, and so close too. Kylie is definitely going to want to go back there!
