Soccer and Airplanes - a Total Picture Overload!

We have had a super busy Saturday. We started out by getting up early to travel to an away soccer game. Delaney's soccer team has to play one away game per season and today was the day for us.

The picture below isn't the greatest, but it does show that sometimes Delaney does try and get where the action the is...

After the soccer game, Delaney, Chris and I headed over to the California International Airshow. This is one of the bigger events held on the Monterey Peninsula each year and for some reason we have never actually been before. Chris's work ended up giving us some great tickets, so we were excited to finally check this neat event out.

Before the show started, we walked around and checked out some aircraft displays. Chris and Delaney loved getting to walk through this big plane...

And Delaney met a friend from one of her favorite restaurants...

Pretty soon it was time for the airshow to start. The airshow is a combination air show and monster truck show and they even have the airplanes flying around doing tricks at the same time that the monster trucks are going, so it's kind of neat.

During the airshow, we saw skydivers...

And we saw lots of neat plane tricks...

(And just in case you wondering, it was Chris that went a little "picture" crazy at the airshow.)

While I was buying our lunch, Delaney somehow convinced her Dad to buy her a replica of an Air Force jet. Although I'm not sure that Delaney really had to do much convincing, I think Chris may have wanted this toy just as much as her.

Then before we knew it they started bringing out the jets. Delaney didn't like this part too much. She had earplugs in but still complained it was too loud!

Here are a few monster truck shots...

The whole airshow is actually 5 hours long but we only made it through 2.5 hours of it. Even though it was a neat event, it was just a little too long for Delaney. In fact, Delaney actually feel asleep in her car seat before we even got out of the airshow parking lot when we left.

And besides watching the show, we checked out lots of neat displays at the airshow. They had 100's of different airplanes on display but Chris and Delaney seemed drawn to all the military planes and helicopters.

In fact Delaney waited in line to sit in the pilot's seat of every military helicopter they had on display. She thought it was great...

And lets just say, Delaney wasn't the only one who was super excited to sit in and examine all these planes and helicopters...

And out of all the hundreds of random planes on display, Delaney chose to have her picture taken by this one because it brings "packages" to you.

And just before we left the show, we got to see one of the monster trucks up close and personal while it was on a break from the show.

The airshow was a great event and maybe next year we'll be able to sit through the whole show. We missed the Grand Finale of the Airshow which featured the Air Force's Thunderbirds but hopefully we can catch the highlights of that on TV later tonight.
