A Quick Tour of Farming in Mexico

Be prepared this could be my most boring blog post ever, but since things have been pretty dull around here I thought I would share some pictures Chris took on his recent trip to Mexico.

Due to some health scares with salmonella and e coli, produce grown in Mexico often gets a bad rap. But what many people don't know is that most large American farms also grow product in Mexico. The product that is grown in Mexico by American farmers is held up to the same high standards that products grown in the US are (i.e. every thing is very clean, sanitary and well taken care of).

Processing facilities in Mexico are very clean and run just like the processing facilities in the US. Everyone entering the facility must wear a hair net, face mask, gloves, etc.

The green onions seen below are being washed, cleaned and cut before being packed for shipment to grocery stores.

The same farming practices used in the United States are also used in Mexico, so the fields are also clean and well taken care of...

These are green onions...

Artichokes...

Brussels sprouts...

And even more Brussels sprouts (with an added bonus of a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean)...

Overall, Chris had a great time on his recent trip to Mexico and kept commenting on how nice every thing was, how clean everything was and how impressed he was by everything he saw.

Although, I'm sure him having a good time had nothing to do with the fact that in the evening he was able to retire to his hotel and enjoy this view from his room...

I don't think that this was a boring post at all! I'm also glad to know that Mexican produce may be safe to eat afterall. Pretty impressive. Glad that Chris had a good time too.
