One of Delaney's favorite summer activities is lounging around in her pajamas.
We are also doing a lot of art projects this summer but I don't have any pictures of those endeavors. Delaney's a big fan of using scissors so I feel like I have to keep my eyes on her at all times and can't stop to take a picture.
Another one of Delaney's favorites activities this summer is playing dress up.
While we were on Catalina over Memorial Day, Avalon High School held their prom. Every year all the couples going to prom, get together before the start of prom and walk down the pier all dressed up in their prom attire for the whole town to see. It's a neat event and it seems like the whole town really does come out to watch the couples going to prom stroll by. Delaney thought this was the greatest thing ever and referred to it as the "Princess Parade" because of all the girls in their pretty dresses. So ever since we got home from Catalina, Delaney has wanted to dress up as a Princess.
Apparently one girl at the "Princess Parade" had a huge impact on Delaney. She was wearing a yellow dress, and Delaney thought she looked just like Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
Delaney has been talking about the girl in the yellow dress ever since we got home from Catalina. Delaney also decided during this time that she wanted to look just like the girl in the pretty yellow dress, only we don't have a Belle costume. So Delaney had to settle for dressing like Sleeping Beauty instead.
We are rotating all of Delaney's costumes on a daily basis. She likes to mix things up and dress as different things on different days.
Delaney isn't just into Princesses, she also loves to sport her hula girl ensemble around the house. And some days she's a cowgirl or wears the sari she got from India.

And for those of you who are worried that Delaney is a little too girly, she also often pretends that she is a farmer or race car driver. She gets on her big wheels and rips around our back patio and makes someone do to the commentary like she's in a Nascar Race. Her Dad is so proud of this.
Next week Delaney starts her summer swimming schedule, where she swims 2 days a week. So that will leave a little less time for dress up, artwork and imaginary Nascar races, and will allow for a lot more time splashing in the water, which we all know is Delaney's absolute favorite summer activity.
