Last Friday night, Dakota ended up a really large scratch/cut on her tail. It bleed like crazy and every time she shook her tail blood went everywhere. Our house sort of resembled a horror movie with blood from the floor to the ceiling. And the crazy thing is that we have no idea how Dakota got this injury.
We managed to keep the bleeding under control over the weekend, and took her the vet on Monday. They decided not to give her any stitches because she was already starting to heal but there was a little concern about infection so she has been placed on an antibiotic to try and keep that at bay.
We kept her tail wrapped with gauze all last weekend, and the vet said we should continue to do so until at least tomorrow. So here's our sweet girl with her gimpy tail...

She has been using her tail to demand a lot of attention this week. And when we take the gauze off tomorrow, I'm not sure what we are going to find under there. The vet had to shave hair off, part of her tail to get a better look at the cut. So Dakota might be sort of funny looking until her hair grows back. Our friend Patty says Dakota is going to look like she has a poodle cut on her tail since she will have hair missing in the middle. :)
